A total of 24 independent designers and commercial brands will participate in the 34th edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion. It is an event that has established itself as the main platform for the promotion of Catalan fashion. This year, the event will be held from October 14 to 17 at the emblematic Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, a venue that has hosted previous editions of the event. The Generalitat has confirmed that the budget earmarked for the celebration of this edition is approximately 2 million euros, highlighting the importance of financial support from both the public sector and private sponsors. They also commented that Louis Vuitton is the official sponsor.
080 Barcelona Fashion
It is worth remembering that the luxury brand Louis Vuitton is also a sponsor of the America’s Cup. In addition, the brand held its last cruise parade in the iconic Park Güell. This year, it joins the Catalan fashion event, reaffirming the growing international interest in 080 Barcelona Fashion. The presence of a brand of this stature is a reflection of the boost the event seeks to give to Catalan fashion in the global context. However, the authorities have not revealed specific details about Louis Vuitton’s contribution, although Jaume Baró, secretary of Enterprise and Competitiveness of the Department of Enterprise and Labor, has highlighted the importance of these public-private collaborations for the growth of the sector.
080 Barcelona Fashion maintains its firm focus on promoting values such as sustainability, timelessness, genderless fashion and upcycling. These are pillars shared by many of the firms that will parade in this edition.
Marta Coca i Ortiga, director of the Fashion Area of the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda (CCAM) and 080 Barcelona Fashion, stressed at the presentation of the event that all participating brands have been selected for their commitment to a more conscious and diverse fashion. In his words, these firms offer “a faithful reflection of fashion aimed at a millennial and generation Z audience”, reflecting current trends in the industry.
Brands
Among the brands that are part of the lineup of this edition are some regulars like Lebor Gabala, Lola Casademunt by Maite, Custo Barcelona, Simorra and Escorpion, who already have a history on the catwalk of 080 Barcelona Fashion. Along with them, other firms that have gained relevance in recent editions will return, such as Dominnico, Carlota Barrera, Reveligion, All that she loves, The Label Edition and Lemachet.
On this occasion, new talents will also be presented on the catwalk. Among them are Zoe Oms, a designer who explores the reappropriation of femininity in her work; Gau, a Valencian firm that proposes sculptural silhouettes with Hellenic influences; Inma Linares, who bets on feminine and handmade fashion; MadridManso, inspired by the patron saint festivals of different regions, and Alsedá, a brand that focuses on the value of sustainability.
Circular fashion
One of the most anticipated proposals is the 080 Reborn, a parade that, for the third consecutive year focuses on circular and sustainable fashion. This catwalk is organized by the stylists Fermín + Gilles. It shows pieces made from clothes recovered from textile waste sorting centers and thrift stores. The slogan of the event is “Make fashion last”. Thus, it seeks to raise awareness of the need for a more responsible and durable fashion industry.
The event has the backing of several sponsors, in addition to Louis Vuitton. Among them are MAC Cosmetics, Wella and Moxy Barcelona, who add their support to the Catalan fashion platform. Also collaborating are entities such as Thuva Professional Line, Rowenta, La Roca Village, Cointreau, Chivite and Girbau Lab. The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) and Natur All are also participating, reinforcing the multidisciplinary nature of the event.
The 080 Barcelona Fashion seeks to consolidate itself as a showcase for local fashion. It also seeks to project Catalan fashion to an international audience. This by taking advantage of the collaboration of major firms such as Louis Vuitton and other relevant players in the sector. With a focus on sustainability and diversity, the event continues to position itself as a key platform for the development of fashion in Catalonia. The event has adapted to the demands and expectations of the younger audience and is committed to responsible consumption.
