We visited the Sagrada Familia
One of the best things about Barcelona is that it is an almost indescribably interesting city that allows you to discover something new with every step you take, whether you are a local or a visitor.
Among the most spectacular monuments in the city is the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí’s great masterpiece that he was unable to see completed.
Whether you are from Barcelona or a tourist, this is a must-see. You will need a few hours (at least) to discover and get to know the grandeur of this work. And we assure you that as soon as you begin your visit, you will also begin a journey through time that will amaze you.
Although it is known simply as Sagrada Familia, its real name is the Expiatory Temple of the Holy Family. And it is a Catholic basilica designed by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, which is still under construction today.
It was originally a neo-Gothic style building. However, a year later, Gaudí took over the project and the work was completely rethought… So much so that the construction was improvised as the construction of the temple progressed. Today, Gaudí’s great work has become the greatest exponent of Catalan modernist architecture and the most visited monument in Spain.
If you are or plan to travel to Barcelona, the Sagrada Familia should be on your must-see list.
