As of June 8, 2022, the young rental voucher will be available in Catalonia. This 250 euro monthly rent assistance was approved by the Spanish government last January.
However, Catalonia will be the first autonomous community where young people can apply.
In fact, the Housing Secretariat of the Generalitat will publish the call for applications that will establish the bases and requirements.
The application can be made online, as well as at local housing or youth offices.
Anti-crisis measures prohibiting rent increases extended
Who can apply for the bono joven de alquiler?
People between 18 and 35 years of age, with a regular income of less than three times the IPREM (Indicador Público de Renta a Efectos Múltiples, which is 579 euros, so the maximum income would be 1,737 euros per month).
Young tenants paying up to 600 euros per month, an indicator that each community can raise up to 900 euros per month.
Those paying up to 300 euros per month for the rent of a room are also eligible to apply.
Please note that if you meet these conditions, as there will be a high demand for vouchers, they will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those who benefit will receive the 2022 aid retroactively as of January 2022.
The Ministry of Transport and Urban Agenda indicated that the budget for the communities is 400 million euros. Catalonia was allocated 29 million for each year (2022 and 2023). With this, they aim to achieve some 10,000 grants per year.
The Generalitat believes that between managing and resolving the requests, the aid will begin to be paid after the summer.
