The residents of Badalona have been collecting signatures supporting the request for a dog beach for several years. They want a suitable space to be able to go out with their pets to enjoy the beach.
This area was scheduled to be delivered in July of this year. However, the Badalona neighborhood continues to insist because it has not been possible to achieve this. In September 2021 the community belonging to districts 1 and 5 of neighborhoods such as Gorgse, Progrés and el Cente, met with the City Council to express the request.
But since there was a change of government, in the spring the residents insisted again to Councilwoman Rosa Trenado.
Places chosen to become a dog beach
In a first contact, the consistory informed that a piece of the Marina beach (Mora neighborhood) would be the chosen place.
Another alternative proposed was to delimit this space in front of the Mireia Belmonte Municipal Swimming Pool.
But so far there is no concrete answer and several unforeseen events have rejected the start-up. This further delays the process until August 2022.
The City Council has not yet defined anything concrete and there is no specific information. But what is clear is that thehe future Badalona dog beach will unveil safety measures. Within them, there will be a person in charge of controlling the dogs’ access to the area by means of a chip that the animals will wear.
Other collaborators will ensure a good coexistence between dogs and bathers, as well as the welfare of all.
