The Barcelona City Council has fined FC Barcelona for not complying with the schedules established for the works at Camp Nou and its remodeling.
The fine imposed amounts to a total of 600 euros and is due to two separate incidents in which the authorized working hours were breached. According to municipal sources, last week’s inspection revealed unauthorized activities between midnight and 1 am.
In addition, during the month of August, work was also detected outside the permitted hours. The Guardia Urbana has processed two penalties, each of which could reach 300 euros.
FC Barcelona sanctioned for not complying with schedules in Camp Nou construction works
According to municipal regulations, the authorized working hours for the Camp Nou works are from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. with machinery and until 9 p.m. without machinery.
Exceptions exist for special jobs that can start as early as 7:00 a.m. These regulations seek to minimize inconvenience to residents and ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Jaume Collboni, mayor of Barcelona, has said that the city council is working in collaboration with FC Barcelona to address these breaches.
In addition, it has been announced that a meeting will be held with local residents to provide further clarifications and explanations on the progress of the works and measures to mitigate the inconvenience caused by the works.
The president of the Camp Nou Neighbors Association, Ana Ramón, shared her perspective on the situation in an interview with SER Catalunya.
She mentioned that the summer had been particularly difficult for area residents due to noise, dust and other inconveniences associated with the construction work. He said that despite some improvements, they were still looking for peace and quiet and the ability to open windows to air out their homes.
The current status of the works
It is reported that the demolition of the third tier of the stadium has been largely completed and the remodeling project is progressing on schedule.
Work began this summer with the demolition of the old stadium and the new Camp Nou is expected to open in November 2024. Full completion of the project is scheduled for 2025.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of complying with municipal regulations.
In addition to ensuring worker safety and minimizing disruption to residents, adherence to schedules and regulations helps maintain a positive relationship between project developers and the local community.
The goal is to work together to ensure that all regulations are met and inconvenience to neighbors in the area is minimized.
