Barcelona is getting ready to experience one of the most creative cultural events of the year: Barcelona Dibuixa, a celebration of the art of drawing that will take place on the weekend of October 19-20. Organized by the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (ICUB) in collaboration with the Picasso Museum, this event invites everyone, regardless of age or skill level, to participate in a wide range of workshops led by renowned local artists.
New spaces, more opportunities to create
This year, the festival is growing and expanding its network of venues. Among the new additions are La Model, the OH! COMICS FEST The new locations are the Centro Cívico Urgell, the Espai Avinyó and the Espai EART (Experimentem amb l’ART). These new locations allow a larger number of people to participate in the activities and proposals that Barcelona Dibuixa has to offer. Each of these spaces will offer unique workshops, where attendees will be able to learn from renowned artists such as Tom Carr, Francesca Llopis, Gonzalo Elvira, Nadia Hafid, Mari Ito, Tere Recarens and the collective La Flor de Tamarindo.
Night workshops for the most daring ones
A highly anticipated aspect of Barcelona Dibuixa is the evening workshops, which are maintained after the success of last year’s edition. From 19:00 to 23:00, these workshops will be aimed at an audience over 16 years old, offering a space for adults to explore their creativity in a relaxed and different atmosphere. This unique opportunity has been very well received in previous editions, and promises to be a meeting point for those seeking a more intimate and leisurely experience in the art world.
Drawing: a gateway to creativity and culture
Barcelona Dibuixa takes place every year near the date of birth of Pablo Picasso (October 25, 1881), a key figure in the history of art and drawing. Through this event, the city becomes an epicenter of art, putting drawing center stage as a form of expression that transcends barriers and connects people. For many, drawing is an activity that not only awakens emotions, but is also a form of knowledge and a way to approach culture. This year, the artist in charge of designing the official poster for the event was Regina Giménez, who has managed to capture in her work the essence of what it means to draw: a simple but profound act that we can all enjoy and that is within everyone’s reach.
How to participate?
Participating in Barcelona Dibuixa is completely free and open to everyone. Those interested can register for the workshops through the websites of the participating centers or attend in person the same day of the event, until full capacity is reached. With a program that includes from workshops for children to evening activities for adults, this event has become one of the most important events in the cultural calendar of Barcelona. It is a perfect opportunity to explore your creativity and learn from great artists in a close and accessible environment for everyone.
