Barcelona inaugurates its first exclusive beach club, known as Bastian Beach. It is an exclusive place that mixes entertainment, relaxation and gastronomy. In addition, it has the provision of being the viewpoint overlooking the America’s Cup Sailing. Since last July 10, Barceloneta already has a luxurious oasis located on the beachfront called Bastian Beach. Its name is due to its location on the beach of San Sebastian.
Beach club: origin of the name Bastian Beach
This name refers to the place where the beach is located, which is the beach of San Sebastian. It was at the beginning of the 20th century when the first bathing establishments were installed. This was an exclusive activity for the upper classes of Barcelona. It is a collaboration between the Club Natació de Barcelona which is located right next to the club and Costa Este. It is a leisure and restaurant group, which owns other establishments in Barcelona such as Opium, Pacha or Bling Bling. This large project has an investment of 15 million euros. Costa Este and the CNB agreed last year to modernize the sports facilities, which were practically abandoned, to give it a leisure function.
Relaxation, entertainment and gastronomy
The Bastian Beach covers 5,000 square meters, involving relaxation, entertainment and gastronomy with differentiated spaces. On the one hand, it has the terrace, which corresponds to the part of the pool that overlooks the beach around sun loungers and different areas of shade and sun. To enter this area has a cost ranging from 50 to 2,000 euros, everything will depend on the level of comfort required. In addition to consumables in drinks, weekends are doubled.
Beach club: over 1,200 square meters of space
On the other hand, this complex offers a restaurant area, so it is not necessary to buy an entrance ticket, since the access is independent in both areas. It is a space of more than 1,200 square meters, including the terrace, and its interior has a capacity for 350 diners. The restaurant has a diverse gastronomic offer, focusing on Mediterranean cuisine, offering rice dishes, pasta and tapas. You can also taste Asian gastronomy through a menu of different types of sushi. According to Ramón Bordas, co-founder and CEO of Costa Este, says: “From the beginning we knew that the gastronomic offer we wanted to offer in Bastian Beach had to be at the height of the space and the environment that surrounds it” in which he adds that he has designed the menu “selecting one by one the dishes to include only elaborations that go through Mediterranean flavors in a unique enclave overlooking the sea”.

The entire space of the restaurant, has been designed by Estrella Salietti and Futur2. It takes part in a holiday atmosphere, comprising the furnishings as well as the layout, which could involve destinations such as Ibiza or Mykonos. He also assures that Bastian Beach comprises a project of major relevance for the Costa Este group and in turn “a fantastic project for the city of Barcelona”. Regarding the upper floors, they are still under construction and it is estimated that they will be ready against the clock. In such a way, that it arrives of the great event of this beach in Barcelona in the America’s Cup of Sailing.
Beach club: excellent panoramic view
Regarding the upper floors, these works are intended to have them up to date ready for the arrival of the great event of the beach in Barcelona this year in the America’s Cup Sailing. This macro sports competition, which will attend Barcelona from August 22 to October 20. It has an excellent panoramic view from the rooftop 360 degrees that provides Bastian Beach, just opposite where the event will take place. Therefore, this club will not follow the full completion of the works until the competition is not finished.
