The “Time Out Index” survey conducted this year by this entertainment company concluded that Barcelona is the 14th best city in the world.
Time Out, once again and despite the pandemic, surveyed 27,000 inhabitants of cities from Chicago to Copenhagen, Melbourne to Madrid and Tel Aviv to Tokyo this year.
According to the entertainment portal and in the midst of the cautious steps towards “semi-normality” in the world, it was important to recognize the great achievements made by the cities in the last 18 months.
The 27,000 respondents ranked which were the best cities in the world.
Despite the enclosure, citizens felt that the cities adapted. All communities came together as never before, businesses were able to survive and new forms of entertainment emerged.
And the answers came from questions about green spaces, sustainability in each city and community projects. Of course, also about culture and food.
The surveyors were looking for cities that not only thought about now, but also about the future.
The results: Barcelona is the 14th best city in the world
The list of the 37 best cities in the world in 2021 was structured according to the responses of the 27,000 participants in all categories.
The analysis of the responses benefited from the advice and knowledge of Time Out experts and editors around the world.
Within the ranking, Barcelona ranked 14th.
Respondents highlighted the ingenuity and solidarity of the people of Barcelona who united under the slogan #CulturaSegura. In fact, cultural organizations looked for alternatives to hold exhibitions, film screenings, theater, live music, during the entire time of the pandemic.
As a result, 83% of the inhabitants interviewed rated the city very highly in “culture” and 85% rated it very highly in “food and beverages“.
Something that stood out in the city was that the parking spaces on the street in the center of Barcelona were destined to restaurants and bars, which are now permanent.
