This fall, Barcelona takes a step forward in the improvement and renovation of its green spaces by starting work on nine green areas located in five districts of the city.
These actions, which are part of the “Pla Endreça” (Adaptation Plan), have a total budget of 3.8 million euros. The main objective is to revitalize and improve green spaces in different neighborhoods, providing higher quality living areas and increased vegetation.
Renovation in L’Eixample District
In line with the municipal government’s commitment to revitalize the interior areas of the block in L’Eixample and to encourage the creation of new green spaces, improvements will be made to two gardens.
The Elena Maseras gardens will have an investment of 120,000 euros in a two-month project that will include the renovation of vegetation, improvements in furniture, drainage and paving and the installation of an automatic irrigation system.

In addition, at the end of November, work will begin on the renovation of the Cèsar Martinell gardens. New trees and shrubs will be planted and an irrigation system will be installed for proper maintenance.
This intervention, with a budget of 388,157 euros, has been a recurring request from residents and the school community.
Improvements in green spaces in Sants-Montjuïc and Sarrià-Sant Gervasi parks.
In the Sants-Montjuïc district, improvement and adaptation works will be carried out in the southern area of the Espanya Industrial Park, located on the border of the Sants and Hostafrancs neighborhoods. The intention is to give the park a more appropriate use, including areas for recreation, pedestrian circulation, and activities.
Appropriate furniture will also be installed for each space and users, in addition to the incorporation of Mediterranean shrub species. The duration of the works will be seven months with a budget of 969,979 euros.
At the Can Mestres Farm, more trees will be planted, the irrigation infrastructure will be improved and the water troughs in the outdoor area will be changed.

On the other hand, in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, the Mercè Rodoreda gardens will have an investment of 709,089 euros to renew handrails, litter garbage cans, benches, signage and lighting. New children’s play areas and dog play areas will also be added.
More works in Sant Andreu and Sant Martí
In the Sant Andreu district, the children’s play area in the Can Fabra gardens will be renovated. This will include improving the flowerbeds with grass and shrubs, transplanting nine olive trees, removing six poplar trees and pruning the pine trees.
Finally, in Sant Martí in the Clot Park, the improvements will focus on the renovation of the irrigation system, the improvement of the pavement, the installation of litter garbage cans and signage.
