From February 5 to 7, 2024, Barcelona is preparing to host one of the most outstanding events in the world of wine: the Barcelona Wine Week (BWW). This show, considered the benchmark for Catalan and Spanish wine, promises to exceed all expectations in its next edition.
With the participation of more than 850 wineries and the presence of the best sommeliers in the country, the event is a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy the rich wine tradition of the region.
In its fourth edition, BWW will experience significant growth, reaching 7,000 m2, an increase of 12% compared to previous years. The space will be divided into three main areas, each offering a unique experience for attendees.
The first and largest is BWW Lands, which will occupy 65% of the total space. Here, wineries will be organized according to their Denominations of Origin (D.O.) and other quality seals. Next, BWW Brands and BWW Complements&Tech, which will comprise 28% of the space, will showcase some of the most recognized brands in the market.
Finally, BWW Collectives and BWW Impulse, dedicated to small projects and micro-wineries across the country, will complete the wine experience.
Program of activities and conferences at Barcelona Wine Week
The program of activities at BWW 2024 will include the participation of nearly 100 experts, Masters of Wine, sommeliers, critics and leading winemakers. These professionals will analyze the major challenges and macro trends in the sector, offering exclusive and unique tastings.
The central theme of this edition will focus on ‘Vessels for winemaking and aging: recovering and innovating’.
The current trend towards the use of unique, new or recovered containers, which allow the wine to express itself with freedom and purity, will be explored in depth.
From amphorae and vats to eggs made of ceramic, cement or granite; barrels and casks of singular woods; to oil mills made of stone or ancestral dry stone vats.
International participation and business opportunities
Barcelona Wine Week has established itself as an unmissable event for the best wineries in the country. In its fourth edition, more than 850 wineries from 70 Appellations of Origin will exhibit their best wines.
