The world of illusionism and magic has found in Antonio Diaz, known as El Mago Pop, a true master who has managed to bring his incredible tricks and performances to the most prestigious stages in the world.
His story is that of a young man from Barcelona who, through his passion for magic, has conquered both local and international audiences.
The first steps of Mago Pop
Born in 1986 in Badía del Vallés, a town near Barcelona, Antonio Díaz awakened his fascination for magic at an early age.
His foray into the world of illusionism began as a hobby, but quickly became a passion that would take him to unimaginable places.
Under the stage name of El Mago Pop, Antonio began demonstrating his skills in theaters throughout Spain at the age of 17.
Although his career began modestly, Antonio’s passion and talent did not go unnoticed. His early performances included such productions as “Sueños,” “La Noche Abbozzi,” and “The Amazing Story of Mr. Abbozzi,” as well as “La Asombrosa Historia de Mr. Abbozzi. Snow.”
However, it was his show “La Gran Ilusión” that catapulted him to fame in 2013. This show, which began at the Teatre Borràs in Barcelona and later moved to the Teatre Coliseum, not only made him a sensation in Spain, but also led him to break box office records in Europe.
El Mago Pop: triumphs in the theater and on television
“La Gran Ilusión” became a smash hit, selling out and saying goodbye at the Starlite Festival in 2017. With more than 800,000 spectators in three years, this show has consolidated its position as the highest-grossing illusionist show in Europe’s history.
His success on stage was paralleled by his success on television. In 2013, his program “El Mago Pop” premiered on Discovery Max, achieving high ratings as one of the most watched programs in the channel’s history.
A dream come true on Broadway
Antonio Díaz did not stop in his quest to take magic to new horizons. His show “Nothing is Impossible” marked a milestone in his career by debuting on Broadway, the world epicenter of the performing arts.
The Barrymore Theater in New York became the stage for his amazing card tricks, telekinesis, levitation and teleportation. Even though he faced a diverse and demanding audience, Mago Pop delighted the audience with his show full of adrenaline and humor.
Their next stop will be the Branson Magic Theatre in Missouri in May 2024, another exciting chapter in their magical journey. From the streets of Barcelona to the legendary Broadway stage, El Mago Pop has proven that, when it comes to magic, truly “Nothing is impossible.”
