The renowned Barcelona-based Hofmann Patisserie is embarking on an exciting international adventure by signing an agreement with the Saudi Kraiv Group to establish franchises in the Middle East.
This agreement, which has a 10-year duration, marks a significant milestone in the history of Hofmann, which has been a benchmark in the culinary scene in Barcelona and beyond.
The pact was the result of a process that ran through most of 2023 and will allow Hofmann to bring its renowned patisserie to the Middle East. The brand currently operates two bakeries in Barcelona, with the most recent one opened last summer.
The expansion to Dubai is an exciting step in Hofmann’s internationalization, and represents a new chapter in the history of this iconic company.
Hofmann Patisserie in Barcelona will be in Dubai
Kraiv, a Saudi group with experience in managing both owned and franchised restaurants, will play a key role in adapting Hofmann’s offering to local tastes and preferences in the Middle East.
Their market knowledge and operational capabilities are crucial assets in ensuring that Hofmann’s bakeries integrate smoothly in this unique region.
Hofmann Director Silvia Hofmann’s team will provide guidance on brand culture, consistency and quality of the customer experience, as well as staff training and development.
To date, Hofmann has been known for its creativity and dedication to quality. The agreement with Kraiv opens an exciting international chapter for the brand. According to Silvia Hofmann, this alliance comes at a time of “maturity” for the company, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
Silvia Hofmann emphasizes that the solidity of the project offered by Kraiv and the similarity in philosophy shared by both companies were determining factors in the decision to take her bakery to the international stage.
Amro Bagedo, founder and CEO of Kraiv, is excited to work closely with the Hofmann team. It highlights the imaginative approach and meticulousness in Hofmann’s designs, along with bold ingredients and exceptional flavors that excite and awaken the desire to try new creations.
According to Bagedo, this innovative perspective makes bringing Hofmann to the Middle East an exciting proposition, as they seek to create a unique version of the original concept, specially designed for Dubai.
Some history
Hofmann’s story originates from a restaurant founded 40 years ago by Mey Hofmann, an outstanding chef who earned a Michelin star in 2004, a distinction the brand has retained over the years.
Although Mey Hofmann passed away in 2016, his legacy lives on in the form of an influential cooking school in Spain, as well as a gastronomic project that his daughter Silvia has been able to modernize and expand.
