The seventh art is preparing to dazzle Barcelona with the eighth edition of the Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival, better known as BCN Film Fest 2024.
From April 18 to 26, the city will become the epicenter of world cinema, with screenings, premieres and the presence of renowned figures of the film industry. Among the stars that will light up the event is the beloved American actress Meg Ryan.
Meg Ryan, known for stealing our hearts in iconic films such as “When Harry Met Sally,” will be one of the highlights of BCN Film Fest 2024. The actress will travel to Barcelona to present her latest play, “Lo que sucede después”.
This film, directed by and starring Ryan, promises to be a heartwarming tale of love, also featuring the talented David Duchovny, known for his roles on “The X-Files” and “Californication”.
The BCN Film Fest not only brings one of Hollywood’s brightest stars, but also presents a varied selection of films directed by prominent filmmakers from around the world.
Vincent Perez, in collaboration with Karine Silla, will delight us with “The edge of the blade”, a story that intertwines historical drama and adventure cinema. In addition, acclaimed directors such as Eric Toledano, Oliver Nakache, and Paola Cortellesi will also be part of this cinematic celebration.
Diverse and attractive program for the BCN Film Fest 2024
The eighth edition of the BCN Film Fest will feature a program of nearly 70 titles distributed in different sections. These include the Official, Official Out-of-Competition, Cinema with Grace, Art in Cinema, Asian madness by Cineasia and Must-see.
In addition, a seventh section, Nou Talents, has been introduced to promote and support emerging talent. This section presents 18 short films created by students from various film schools in the city, competing for the prize of 2,000 euros for the best short film.
Conxita Casanovas, director of the BCN Film Fest, shares her enthusiasm for this year’s edition. She emphasizes that the festival is in tune with the present day, where women take a leading role in the programming.
Meg Ryan and her return
“What Happens Next” marks the second film directed by Meg Ryan, and according to Casanovas, it was clear to him that the actress would be the key to the festival.
The film, which is also part of the official competition section, features Ryan and Duchovny in a love story that explores the complexities of relationships and the passage of time.
In addition to the presence of international stars, the BCN Film Fest 2024 will pay tribute to Japanese director Yasujirô Ozu. Considered one of the most important directors in the history of cinema with his films “Tokyo Tales”, “A Hostel in Tokyo” and “A Neighborhood Story”.
