The dancers of the Folk Dance Ensemble Detelini, Bulgarian Folk Dance group, will perform on September 4 in the Plaça de la Vila de Parets (Vallès Oriental).
The group brings to Barcelona its repertoire of song and dance in the framework of the 50th International Folkloric Days of Catalonia. There, pdances from the six ethnographic regions of Bulgaria, in particular from the Thrace region, will be presented on stage.
The International Days are organized by ADIFOLK (Associació per a la Difusió del Folklore), which will also count with the presence of dances from different parts of the world.
Likewise, folk dance groups from Kenya, Brazil, Romania and Mexico will also perform their repertoires along with more than twenty municipalities of Catalonia.
Bulgarian folk dance and other international guests
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the festival, which will feature international guests from September 2 to 10. Y cs has become traditional, the event will be inaugurated with a ceremony in Calella (El Maresme) and the closing ceremony will be held in Falset (Priorat).
However, there will also be different activities in 23 towns including Barcelona, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Parets del Vallès, Arenys de Munt, Ripoll, Cambrils, Súria or La Llagosta.
The international guests are:
- The Maranhâo Barrica Company of Brazil.
- Romanasul UTC-N Folk Ensemble Cluj Napoca from Romania.
- Cultural Group Africa La Tarumbeta of Kenya.
- The Detelini Folk Dance Ensemble from Bulgaria.
- Katros Monterrey Dance Group from Mexico.
The Associació per a la Difusió del Folklore intends with this festival, to generate a “cohesion” between the different peoples of the world. But how? Very simple, with one of the best human artistic expressions: dance.
Oriol Ramirez, director of the Festival, explained that in addition to the opening of the festival in Calella, there will also be other recreational and cultural activities. Within them, talks, carvings and handicraft markets will be promoted in the city.
At the closing session in Falset, attendees will be able to enjoy a parade and a small tasting prior to the closing ceremony of the event.
Both the opening and closing of the festival, will be led by the collectives of the Diablos de Pere Botero, Falset la Clavellinera and the Mulassa de Falset. For its part, the municipal band will offer new arrangements of the JIF hymn.
ADIFOLK said that, as part of the festival, an exhibition of Catalan folklore was also held in front of the Parliament during the National Day of Catalonia.
The Association also said that from August 26 to 28 the 34th Aplec Internacional Adifolk was held in Elvas (Portugal). This Catalan folklore festival welcomed more than 700 members of 34 Catalan folk culture organizations.
This event is also traditional, as it has been held in cities such as Frankfurt, Paris and Washington since 1988.
