“Cab Life: A City Driving Simulator” comes to Barcelona in February 2024

The experience of driving through the streets of Barcelona will come to life with “Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator”, a videogame that promises to offer a realistic and detailed simulation of Barcelona.

Scheduled for release in February 2024, it will be available for platforms such as PC, PS5 and Xbox X|S Series. Although it is not a “GTA” set in Barcelona, it stands out for offering a realistic and scaled-down driving experience.

In the game, players will assume the role of a cab driver, facing the challenges and situations that characterize the life of a cab driver in a bustling city. The title formerly known as “Urban Venture” now adopts the more evocative name “Taxi Life”, reflecting its focus on the daily life of a cab driver.

Barcelona in Detail in “Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator”.

One of the most striking features of “Taxi Life” is the detailed representation of Barcelona. With a playable area of at least 20 square kilometers, the game recreates up to 460 kilometers of tracks, offering players the opportunity to explore the city on a 1:1 scale.

This recreation includes up to 200 landmarks, from parks to buildings and monuments, providing an immersive experience.

The level of detail extends beyond geography, as players will also be able to customize their cab, meet the needs of customers and face realistic situations. From traffic jams and impatient passengers to accidents and decisions about gas prices, the game aims to offer a complete experience of the life of a cab driver in Barcelona.

Interaction with passengers and business growth objectives

One of the most outstanding features is the possibility of interacting with passengers. In addition to complying with driving rules and dealing with various situations, players will be able to meet the specific needs of their customers, either by opening a window or performing other actions that contribute to the immersive experience.

The ultimate goal of the game is to manage and grow the cab business in Barcelona. Players will be able to start with a small cab license and as they progress, hire other drivers and customize the features of their vehicles to expand their fleet.

Challenges and realism in “Taxi Life”.

The “Taxi Life” experience promises realistic challenges, such as managing traffic tickets and avoiding conflicts with the police. In addition, players will have to adapt to customer demands and environmental conditions, ranging from streets closed for construction to parades and adverse weather conditions.

This is not the first attempt to bring Barcelona to the video game screen. In 2009, Ubisoft released “The Wheelman”, an open-world game with a similar theme to GTA, but it was not very successful due to problems adapting to the city.
