The Barcelona City Council has announced the opening of a new super playground in the Bordeta neighborhood of Sants-Montjuïc in the former Block 12 of the Can Batlló complex.
The super area is located within the perimeter of the walls of the old factory site, which have been preserved to maintain their heritage interest and give continuity to the 11 de Juny street.
This open-plan space without a roof has five entrances, although initially only one of them will be open to the public.
The construction of this super area is part of the first phase of the Can Batlló Park, an ambitious project that seeks to transform this industrial space into a green and recreational area for the enjoyment of the community.
The opening of the children’s super area represents an important milestone in this urban renewal process.
Inauguration of an innovative super playground area in Can Batlló
With a surface area of approximately 1,000 square meters, the super area has been designed with the objective of offering playful activities for children, encouraging them to have fun and enjoy themselves in the open air.
This new play area features innovative attractions and elements that promise to captivate children’s attention and stimulate their imagination.
One of the highlights of the super area is a nine-meter-high tower with three slides that have different exit levels.
The highest slide offers a thrilling 11-meter descent, providing an adrenaline-filled experience for the little adventurers.
This safe and exciting challenge will allow them to explore their courage and push their own limits.
There is another slide at a height of three meters with a magnificent “helicoidal transfer canvas”.
This pioneering system in the city allows children with reduced mobility and muscle tone in the upper trunk to access and enjoy the slide in an inclusive manner.
Thanks to this initiative, the participation of all children, regardless of their physical abilities, is encouraged and equal opportunities in the game are promoted.
Other attractions
In addition to the slides, the super area has a variety of elements and games for children’s entertainment.
Included are trampolines, see-saws, an individual and a collaborative wheelchair-accessible turntable, as well as topography and undulations in the pavement that invite you to run, roll and balance.
Swings have also been installed to complete the offer of fun and recreation.
This project is part of the Barcelona Public Space Play Plan, which seeks to improve and diversify opportunities for play and physical activity in the urban environment, creating more accessible and creative play areas.
A novelty that for sure, your children will be happy to know.
