One of the prides of Barcelona is Gaudí’s Casa Batlló and now it will be even more so when it is chosen as the “World’s Best Monument of 2021”.
The award was given by the online cultural platform “Tiqets”, a site that recommends the best places to visit in Europe. On this occasion, the first place went to Antoni Gaudí’s building in Barcelona.
Casa Batlló was built by Antonio Gaudí in 1906 on Passeig de Gràcia.
In the competition it surpassed buildings such as the Duomo in Milan and the Tower of London.
Why did Gaudí’s Casa Batlló receive the award?
Because it is one of the most emblematic tourist buildings with great appeal for visitors to Barcelona.
In fact, in May 2021 and after several months of closure due to the pandemic, La Casa surprised all of Barcelona and tourists with an “immersive 10D Experience”.
This proposal added 2,000 square meters to the building, including two immersive rooms:
- The Gaudí Dôme: a dome with 21 audio channels and more than a thousand screens. It also has a mapping that shows Gaudí’s inspiration from his childhood.
- The popular Cube experience: a six-sided LED cube, a 100% immersive space to discover Gaudí from his own mind. An Artificial Intelligence program makes it possible for visitors to imagine the architect’s dreams.
Another attraction of the building is the 300 square meters of the French firm Cartier on its second floor where it installed an exclusive temporary boutique.
