In the midst of the confinement and the health situation, the long-awaited Michelin Guide 2021 Spain/Portugal was launched last year.
The inspectors managed to do their job just prior to Covid’s declaration of alarm. They completed their work with long working days and the support of inspectors from other countries. Finally, at the beginning of October, the guide went to press to be published at the end of last year.
As of mid-December 2020, the guide has been available for sale. Its publication was a celebration for three two-star restaurants and for those that retained their status.
Michelin stated that despite the pandemic and the crisis the world is going through, “the stars are worth the same this year as in previous years”.

Green stars
This year, the tire company is introducing the “green stars”, as a distinction given by inspectors to those restaurants that are committed to environmental sustainability. In its first year, 21 green stars were awarded.
Another clarification is that due to the difficulties experienced by the sector during 2020, many of the restaurants with stars at the time of printing the guide, were with the shutters down. Because of this, the stars were not removed, but it was indicated that they were temporarily closed.
When they reopen, the reopening of the restaurants’ service will be updated on the App and on the brand’s website. Congratulations to all the award winners. Good luck to Catalonia.
