CLAM 2023, to celebrate Cinema committed to solidarity and human rights

Cinema has proven its ability to influence social consciousness and raise profound questions about humanity and the world around us. In this context, the International Social Film Festival of Catalonia, CLAM 2023, shines as a beacon of social commitment, human rights and critical reflection.

For ten days the film event (October 12-22, 2023), will offer a thematic program that addresses the social problems arising from globalization, all from a critical and responsible perspective.

CLAM 2023: an exceptional event

The main stage of CLAM will be in Navarcles, but the festival extends beyond this municipality. In addition, the festival offers the “Off Festival”, which includes a series of parallel and complementary activities in collaboration with institutions and entities of the territory.

The Agustí Soler i Mas Auditorium in Navarcles is the venue for the most significant events of the festival.

For up-to-date information on the program and prices of film screenings, we recommend you consult the festival’s official website or the websites of the local town halls.

The 19th edition of the Solidarity Film Festival of Catalonia (CLAM) promises to be exceptional. The director of the festival, Esteve Soler, emphasizes that this edition will feature about thirty premieres.

One of the highlights of the opening will be the screening of the documentary “20 Days in Mariupol”, which deals with the Russian harassment in this city. This film will set the tone for a festival that last year attracted an audience of 10,000.

Film diversity

CLAM 2023 offers a wide range of films both in and out of competition. The Official Selection in the feature film category has 9 films in competition and 13 out of competition.

Among the featured titles are award-winning works such as “Anatomy of a Fall”, “Evil Does Not Exist” and “Kokomo City”. In addition, two thematic cycles will be held: one dedicated to a retrospective of French filmmaker Oliver Assayas, with the screening of 11 of his films, and another focusing on the classics of rural cinema.

The event also aims to give “maximum visibility” to the problems related to rurality, such as the abandonment of nature and its values, as well as the depopulation of rural areas.

A thematic cycle called “Les Altres de Alcarràs” will screen 9 works that explore themes related to the environment and the struggle of human beings to coexist in their natural habitat with the species that inhabit it.

CLAM 2023: recognizing filmmaking talent

Each year, CLAM grants Honorary Awards to outstanding figures in the film world. In this edition, the honorees will be Oliver Assayas, Rodrigo Sorogoyen, Silvia Munt, Jaume Figueras and Carles Cases, recognized for their contribution to the seventh art.
