The 42 homes will be one- or two-bedroom units.
This represents the use of one or two shipping containers that will be suitable as a single deck.
A total of 77 containers will be used and it is estimated that the work will be completed in about 26 weeks.
The goal is to have them ready in the summer for awarding in September 2022.
A laundry for the entire estate will also be built on the urban level, as well as a multi-purpose room and an interior courtyard.
The estimated construction cost will be five million euros.
On delays
In order to partially solve the housing emergency in the city, in 2018 the government of Mayor Ada Colau and , presented the idea of raising the Provisional Proximity Housing, APROP.
The goal was to complete the construction of the second containerized social housing building in 2018 itself. However, bureaucratic problems at the locations delayed construction.
The third building will be constructed in La Bordeta, Can Batlló (Sants-Montjuïc).
