A visit to Barcelona requires a visit to the Diagonal Mar Park (Parc Diagonal Mar). And this is an urban park that offers and allows you to enjoy an experience not comparable to what you can live in other parks in the city.
The Diagonal Mar Park is a contemporary architectural work that speaks of the new Barcelona and gives even more originality – if possible – to the city.
The innovative and sustainable architecture that shapes this park was designed by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue.
It is located on the site of an old factory, in the new Barcelona del Fòrum.
The park has seven distinct areas spread over some 14 hectares: an area dedicated to children’s playgrounds, an impressive lake with sculptures that spew vaporized water, a walkway over the water, a large central square, an area composed of a structure of undulating tubes… And all areas of this huge park (one of the largest in Barcelona) are well differentiated, but all have something in common: water.
The water runs through the entire structure of the park until it reaches the sea. But not only does the water flow through the tubes until it reaches the sea, but sometimes it is also used to irrigate the park’s gardens.
