With the arrival of Sant Jordi, Barcelona dresses up to celebrate one of its most deeply rooted traditions. In addition to the roses and books that flood the streets, this year the Palau de la Música Catalana offers a unique experience for lovers of architecture and culture: La Ruta de les Flors.
During the week of April 22-28, 2024, the Palau de la Música opens its doors to offer up to 31 themed guided tours in Catalan, Spanish, English and French.
This initiative allows visitors to enter one of the most emblematic buildings of the city and discover a hidden treasure within its walls: more than 2,000 roses hidden among the architecture and ornaments of the Palau.
Designed by the renowned architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner, the Palau de la Música is a jewel of Catalan architectural modernism.
Also known as the “Jardí de Pedra” for the integration of natural elements in its design, the building houses an impressive collection of sculptures, mosaics, stained glass and wrought iron that hide up to sixteen varieties of flowers, the rose being the undisputed protagonist.

During the guided tour, attendees will have the opportunity to explore every corner of the Palau, from the most colorful spaces such as the stained glass windows and capitals to the most hidden corners such as the railings and knobs.
They will also be able to admire the new skylight in the Concert Hall, whose spectacular LED lighting adapts to the music playing at that moment, creating a unique sensory experience.
But La Ruta de les Flors goes beyond the mere contemplation of architectural beauty. During the visit, the guides will share the symbolism of these flowers and their relationship with Modernism, thus enriching the cultural experience of the participants.
For those who wish to take home a souvenir of this unique experience, the Palau store offers the opportunity to purchase a rose or a gift bookmark courtesy of La Capell, while supplies last.
The Ruta de les Flors offers an exceptional opportunity to celebrate Sant Jordi surrounded by history, culture and floral beauty.
