The labyrinth
Several scenes from the movie Perfume were filmed there. Admission is paid, but on Wednesdays and Sundays it is free. Right at the entrance you can see the house where the original owners lived in the eighteenth century, the Marquis of Llupià i Alfarràs and his family. At that time it was a farm two hours away from Barcelona if you arrived by carriage.
By 1967 the family ceded it to the City Hall, which in turn opened it to the public in 1971.
The labyrinth was elaborated with cut cypress trees (about 750 meters of trees) distributed in an area of 45 x 50 meters. It is said that the famous Labyrinth of the Minotaur in Crete was used as a model for the shape. In fact, when you go in there is a relief that says: “Enter, you will get out without any detour, the labyrinth is simple, it is not necessary the ball that Ariadne gave to Theseus”.
Inside the park you can also enjoy a neoclassical garden from the 18th century and a very romantic one from the 19th century. You can also appreciate sculptures, fountains, waterfalls, pavilions, ponds, all as part of a romantic atmosphere to enjoy with your partner.
Near the park you can currently find the Vall D’Hebron hospital and the velodrome for the Olympic Games.
