Barcelona celebrates the Dreamed Cities Festival to close the successful exhibition that has been held at the Palau Robert since March of this year.
The closing event will take place on June 11 in the gardens of the Palau Robert and will feature a day of debate, reflection and activities related to the construction of the cities of the future.
During the last two months, Barcelona has become a space for reflection and debate on urban planning and citizens’ concerns.
The exhibition Dreamed Cities, curated by architect Roger Subirà, has been an outstanding exhibition at the Palau Robert, presenting relevant urban projects.
In addition, the Generalitat de Catalunya has promoted a series of workshops aimed at young architecture students, Barcelona families and citizens interested in urban planning.
Culmination of the Dream Cities Festival
The Dream Cities Festival will be the closing event of these initiatives and will seek to reflect on the challenges facing the cities of the future.
During the day, the proposals elaborated by more than 200 citizens during the workshops held within the framework of the exhibition will be recognized and evaluated.
The main objective is to encourage debate on what the Barcelona of the future should be like and to involve all citizens in this discussion.
The festival program will begin at 11 am and end at 3 pm.
During these four hours, various activities related to the topics covered in the exhibition and workshops will take place.
One of the main activities is the Kapla workshop, aimed at children, where they can build a large-scale city using wooden pieces and work on the geometry of urban spaces.
In addition, there will be a round table discussion entitled “The cities of the future”, with the participation of leading experts in the field of architecture.
This space for debate will address topics such as sustainable mobility, local economy, green spaces and inclusiveness in cities.
Other activities
The works of the winners of the 13th edition of the AJAC awards, which recognize the architectural work of young people and students under 40 years of age, will be exhibited.
It has been the best opportunity to get to know the vision of these talented architects and delve deeper into their projects.
In addition, the curator of the exhibition Dreamed Cities, Roger Subirà, will offer two guided tours of the exhibition, giving attendees a final opportunity to explore this outstanding exhibition before it closes on Sunday, June 11.
The Dream Cities Festival promises to be an enriching day full of innovative ideas on how to build the cities of the future.
The festival invites all citizens interested in urbanism and the future of Barcelona to participate in this event.
