The operations of line L5 of the Barcelona metro will not be available during Easter and summer in order to solve vibration problems on the surface.
For several months, this closure will allow to advance the renovation works of the track section between Diagonal and Horta stations.
L5 is one of the most used lines by users of the Barcelona metro. In fact, according to Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona, TMB, 26% of passengers use this line.
Therefore, in order to minimize the impact of the works, they will be carried out in two phases during Easter and in summer.
Closures of L5 of the Barcelona subway
Easter, between April 9 and 18, there will be no service between the Verdaguer and Virrei Amat stops.
Then in summer, between July 9 and August 7, 2022, it will not operate from Congrés to Vilapicina.
On the other hand, between the Congrés and Horta stops, the service will not operate from August 8 to September 10.
The works are intended to solve the problem of vibrations that have already generated complaints among neighbors due to inconvenience and damage to their homes.
The objective is to solve 45% of the vibrations in the Barcelona metro network and to be able to install around 20,000 anti-vibration mounts on the track.
The closures will also be used to remove asbestos at the Maragall station.
As an alternative during the closures, a shuttle bus service will be provided to cover transportation on the affected section.
