With an investment of almost 42 million euros, 79 schools in Barcelona will be undergoing maintenance during the summer.
The City Council and the Generalitat will allocate these resources to adapt the courtyards, improve the facilities and leave them in perfect condition.
The objective is to take advantage of this holiday period to advance the works in the educational centers.
They point out that one of the most important interventions is being carried out at the Antaviana high school.
Expansion work is already underway there, as it is expected that the number of students entering secondary school will increase after its conversion to a high school.
During the summer 79 schools will be expanded or upgraded
Another school is La Pau, which will start school with a new kitchen and a new dining room.
In addition, nearly ten centers will be expanded with the installation of prefabricated modules. Such is the case of the schools Entença, 9 graons, Gaia, Xirinacs, among others.
The construction of the new Angeleta Ferrer Institute building, which is scheduled to be inaugurated in September, will also be completed.
There are 54 other smaller works. Half of them are related to the adequacy of playgrounds and improvements in schooling.
The other schools will have their playgrounds adapted to transform them into community, co-educational and naturalized spaces.
They will also be used as climatic shelters to be used as protection during heat waves.
In total, it is estimated that this year there will be interventions in 121 educational centers with maintenance of some kind: painting, refurbishment of the dining room, change of furniture, air-conditioning, etc.
