The Fundació Miró becomes the setting for a unique exhibition that invites visitors to immerse themselves in the world of “Imaginary Friends”.
An exhibition of contemporary art seen in a friendly and fun way.
The exhibition is curated by Patrick Ronse and Martina Millà. It seeks to introduce people of all ages, especially the youngest, to the creativity and diversity of constantly changing art.
The exhibition is presented as an interactive space where imagination takes flight and the boundaries between the viewer and reality fade away.
Works by renowned artists such as Paola Pivi, Kasper Bosmans, Polly Apfelbaum, Meschac Gaba, Afra Eisma, Pipilotti Rist and Martin Creed are brought together at the Fundació Miró. They use a variety of materials and techniques to create an environment of play and discovery.
Exhibition “Imaginary Friends”: an interactive experience at the Fundació Miró
The concept of “imaginary friends” applies to both the artist and the artwork itself. Both become catalysts of a space where everything is possible, inviting the viewer to actively participate in the experience.
The objective of the exhibition is to eliminate the fear of contemporary art and bring it to a wider public.
The exhibition is organized around nine installations, some of which are classic works and others newly created.
These are distributed both in the exhibition rooms of the Fundació Joan Miró and in other areas of the museum.
Most of the installations are interactive and reflect the contemporary concerns addressed by the artists, related to play and leisure, among other themes.
“Imaginary Friends” will be open to the public until July 2, 2023, so art lovers and the curious have plenty of time to immerse themselves in this visual and emotional journey.
Don’t miss the opportunity to enter the world of “Imaginary Friends” and discover how contemporary art can awaken your imagination and emotions.
The Fundació Miró awaits you with open arms for an unforgettable experience.
A liberating exhibition
One of the highlights of the exhibition is “Modified Social Bench for Venice #04” by artist Jeppe Hein.
This work combines the form of a public bench with an element intended for play, turning the artwork into something real and participatory.
Visitors are invited to step on it, walk it, sit on it and share it with others, thus breaking the traditional barrier of distant contemplation.
Contemporary art can sometimes present itself as something difficult to understand, with forms and meanings that require an educated and prepared eye.
However, “Imaginary Friends” seeks to overcome these difficulties and bring art to all audiences, regardless of their level of prior knowledge.
