After an exciting weekend full of concerts and festivities in the streets of Barcelona, La Mercè culminates with its signature fireworks display. On Monday, September 25, at 22:00, Maria Cristina Avenue will be illuminated with a display of pyrotechnics, lights and music.
This year, the Sónar festival, celebrating its 30th anniversary, provided the music for the fireworks. For 25 minutes, the speakers synchronize the light show with a selection of special music.
If you want to enjoy the fireworks show of La Mercè in a more comfortable way, there are several options. Of course, you can join the crowds on Avenida Maria Cristina, but if you prefer a quieter spot, consider visiting one of the terraces surrounding the avenue.
Another popular option is the Mirador de las Arenas, located in the Las Arenas shopping center. on the top floor. Normally access is free, but during La Mercè only those who have a reservation at one of the restaurants in the mall are allowed to enter.
The National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), located in Montjuïc Park, is also a privileged place to see the show.
