The 60th edition of the Barcelona Children’s Festival opens today December 27 at the Palau 2 and the Plaza del Universo at the Montjuïc exhibition center of Fira de Barcelona.
The Festival will be held through Saturday, December 31 amidst hundreds of activities and sports. The program will include more than 40 recreational activities for children between the ages of five and twelve, inspired by the Olympic Games.
These sporting events will be held in an area of 16,000 square meters, according to Fira de Barcelona.
Olympic Program at the Barcelona Children’s Festival
Participants will be able to practice a dozen different sports disciplines. All of them are part of the Olympic program, such as basketball, soccer, cycling, climbing and skateboarding.
There will also be track and field races and high jumps, small soccer games, mini-basketball and synchronized swimming in a ball pool, among other disciplines.
There will also be a circuit to get in shape and taste the food an elite athlete eats. In addition to sporting events, there are also workshops and handicrafts.
Among them, there will be a session for children to learn how to build the star that currently crowns the tower of the Mother of God of the Sagrada Familia church.
There will also be puppet and molding workshops and a treasure hunt (tests of skill or ingenuity) to find the seven Cobis hidden in the Fira de Montjuïc.
The program includes a 19-show program with the children’s singer Dàmaris Gelabert who will give two concerts on December 27, 2022.
Illusion and novelty for children
The Festival is a great Christmas and New Year’s Eve party for the little ones. This year it returned with the original format, after the restrictions due to the pandemic.
And the truth is that it returns stronger than ever with the excitement of reunion while sharing recreational, cultural and sporting activities.
There will be creative activities to make puppets or a workshop to paint the mascot of Barcelona ’92.
And the main theme of the 2022 edition of the Festival is in honor of the fact that this year the Barcelona Olympic Games celebrated their thirtieth anniversary.
Another novelty is that there will be breakdancing or parkour sessions, disciplines that will also be premiered as an Olympic competition at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
