In Catalonia, the Acadèmia del Cinema Català is preparing to celebrate the 16th Gaudí Awards 2024 gala on February 4 at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB).
With a list of nominees recently revealed, anticipation has begun to grow around this outstanding celebration of Catalan cinema.
This year, two films stand out as the favorites, accumulating an impressive number of nominations. “Creatura” and “Saben aquell” lead the race with 15 and 13 nominations, respectively.
These awards come as no surprise to the Catalan film industry, as both films have left a significant mark on the year’s cinematic panorama.
In the directing category, established figures such as Isabel Coixet, David Trueba and Elena Martín are positioned as favorites. In addition, the unexpected presence of Agustí Villaronga, who could receive a posthumous award, adds an element of emotion to the ceremony.

The reading of the nominations was carried out by Vicky Luengo and Pol López, both winners of the Gaudí for best actress and actor last year for “Suro”. This year, the Gaudí d’Honor-Miquel Porter award recognizes the outstanding career of filmmaker Rosa Vergès, who will receive the award during the gala.
