Green Barcelona, this will be the integral renovation project of its gardens by 2025. This project has been approved by the Barcelona City Council. The renovation will be for the Jardins de Jaume Planas located in the Carmel district. It is worth noting that Carmel celebrates this remodeling of the gardens dedicated to an icon of the neighborhood.
Ambitious project
This project is ambitious, as it seeks the urban revitalization of Barcelona. For this reason, a radical change has been announced for several of its emblematic gardens for the next 2025. It is an initiative whose main objective is to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants and environmental sustainability.
The project in question includes measures to improve the energy efficiency of each of the adjacent spaces. Also planned is the installation of intelligent irrigation systems and the use of LED technology to optimize lighting, which contributes to reducing the environmental impact of urban gardens.
According to the Mayor of Barcelona: “We are excited to begin this green transformation that will position Barcelona as a global benchmark in urban sustainability”. This is an ambitious project aimed at beautifying the city. In addition to fulfilling its commitment to protect the environment and create healthier environments.
Duration of work nine months
Construction is scheduled to begin early next year, so Barcelona is preparing for a more resilient and green future, where the city and nature are kept in harmony.
It should be noted that this program will be carried out during the summer and its bidding procedure. This work is expected to last nine months, from February to November 2025.
Modification of the works will be made topographically in the area destined for children’s playgrounds, such as Hortal Street. This area will be transformed into a flat surface on which it is possible to place three slides, ropes, dams, logs, a triangular net and a hammock.
Pavement improvement
In addition, the pavement will be improved and the current dog area will be dismantled, since it does not meet the minimum requirements of the City Council. There will also be two types of normal gardens known as flowerbeds, one of 6 meters and another of 20 square meters. These gardens can be planted with a variety of shrubs and trees.
Finally, the community has shown great motivation for this initiative, highlighting how important it is to improve spaces within the city. Barcelona is expected to achieve a comprehensive renovation of its gardens by 2025. This will help foster a sense of belonging and greater care for citizens.
