Barcelona will host the Iberoamerican Free Zone Summit, the largest free zone event in the Americas, from November 7 to 9, 2023.
The conference will be held at the DFactory complex of the CZFB, a stage dedicated to Industry 4.0, coinciding with the Smart City Expo World Congress, an event organized by Fira de Barcelona.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of 600 free trade zones from 25 countries where more than 13,000 companies operate.
The choice of the Catalan capital to host the Summit was made within the framework of the General Assembly of the Free Trade Zone Association of the Americas, AZFA, which took place in the Dominican Republic.
The meeting was attended by Pere Navarro, special delegate of the State in the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona, CZFB, and Blanca Sorigué, general manager of CZFB.
Iberoamerican Free Trade Zone Summit: an event of international stature
The Summit is the most important event for the Free Trade Zone sector in Ibero-America. These days will bring together users, operators, investors, consultants, government entities and industry suppliers.
They will discuss the current situation, trends, advances, best practices, innovations and challenges for the future of the sector.
During the meeting in the Dominican Republic, Blanca Sorigué, re-elected as a member of AZFA, and Pere Navarro presented the “model of success” developed by the organization.
The model was developed based on process innovation, technology and sustainability.
Pere Navarro highlighted the main projects that are being developed, in particular the DFactory Barcelona, which currently has 30 companies installed and 500 people working.
This project is structuring the main Industry 4.0 node in southern Europe. It will focus on the development of activities associated with robotics, Artificial Intelligence, 3D printing, advanced manufacturing, sensors, blockchain, Internet of Things, among other tools.
Through its delegates, the CZFB also explained its plans related to the Logistics 4.0 Incubator, which will start its activities in early 2023, as well as the 3D Incubator.
The 3D Incubator is Europe’s first 3D printing business incubator that in less than a year and a half has managed to exceed 100 incubated companies a year. This is more than initially anticipated.
The incubator has been able to foster the development of entrepreneurial business ideas by providing 3D printing production services, parts certification, business consulting and marketing support.
The 3D Factory Incubator is located in the Zona Franca Consortium in the city of Barcelona.
The complete team includes four state-of-the-art industrial 3D printers, as well as three mini printers.
