The Barcelona City Council has launched a new initiative to educate the city’s dogs. These are free dog training workshops that will be held in different districts of the city until November of this year.
Barcelona is a city with a large number of dogs, it is estimated that there are around 180,000 dogs living with the inhabitants of the city.
This coexistence is not always easy, and that is why it is necessary that dogs receive proper education and training to be able to live in harmony with humans.
The itinerant workshops began last March 1 in the Raspall square, in the district of Gràcia, and will continue in different neighborhoods of the city until November.
The next session will be held in Barceloneta on March 22, and thereafter, they will be held on different dates and locations.
Some of them will be the Malaga gardens in the Sants-Montjuïc district on April 12 and the Bacardi gardens in Les Corts on May 3.
Itinerant dog training workshops
The workshops are open to anyone who has a dog and wants to learn more about how to educate them.
Topics to be addressed include obedience training, anxiety and fear control, socialization with other dogs and people, among others.
This initiative seeks to help dog owners educate their pets effectively and safely.
The workshops are also expected to reduce the number of abandoned dogs and improve the welfare of the dogs and their owners.
What is dog training for?
It is important to emphasize that canine education and training are fundamental for the well-being and safety of dogs and people.
Dogs that are not properly educated can be a source of danger to themselves and others. In addition, an educated dog is a happy and safer dog, which improves its quality of life and that of its owners.
The free workshops offer a unique opportunity for dog owners to learn how to effectively and safely educate their pets.
Dog training is the process of teaching a dog to behave in a specific way, either to accomplish certain tasks or to improve its relationship with humans.
It includes the use of positive reinforcement (such as rewards) to reinforce desirable behaviors and the use of corrective techniques.
It is also important to establish a clear and consistent hierarchy in the relationship between dog and owner, which helps to establish structure and discipline in the dog’s life.
