Jaume de Laiguana. Barcelonaés. Art director, filmmaker and photographer. His career began as a photographer in the mid 90’s and in a very short time he managed to participate in important advertising campaigns. Afterwards, he followed his path in an attempt to quench the thirst he felt as an artist and began experimenting with the audiovisual format, making commercials and video clips. It took him a short time to achieve national and international recognition in this area as well.
The list of awards and recognitions that Jaume de Laiguana has in his possession is long, very long. And it ranges from prestigious advertising and photography awards, to several Latin MTV and Grammy nominations.
Most of Laiguna’s work is related to advertising. But with his particular vision he has managed to turn simple advertising assignments into true works of art.
Social issues are another of Jaume de Laiguana’s strong points. Part of his work is centered on a background of social denunciation.
Last May the artist held, together with the Generalitat de Catalunya, at the Palu Robert, a retrospective exhibition in which he showed 158 of his photographs taken throughout his career. A surprising exhibition that allowed to discover all the facets of the author and to know his particular vision of the world that leads him to continuously search for beauty in imperfection and capturing what he sees and feels with a certain provocation.
