There are many cheesecakes, but Jon Cake’s cheesecakes are out of this world! They have been one of the most talked about phenomena in recent months in Barcelona. The person responsible for the phenomenon is Jon García, an aeronautical engineer who went from the world of aviation to Michelin Star kitchens such as those of El Celler de Can Roca or La Tasquería, to finally drive the palates of hundreds of diners crazy.
To prepare the best cheesecakes, he had to go through a lot. He began by experimenting, combining recipes and adding his personal touch. When he saw that these were good, he began to sell them to his friends and family, the monetary value was set by them and it was fine for him to receive the retribution they considered.
Jon Cake, delicious cakes for all tastes
What the former engineer did not know, was that very soon his creation would become something palpable, Jon Cake now has a shop in Carrer dels Assaonadors 29, in the Born. There he cooks hundreds of cakes of various flavors: the classic (four cheeses), blue cheese (with two types of blue cheese), Idiazábal cheese, goat cheese, chocolate (with cow cream cheese) and one that is a surprise, which changes every week and is available from Thursday to Sunday.
The surprise cakes were really amazing: white chocolate and matcha tea, lotus cookie (Biscoff) and coffee, panettone, nutella, lemon, peanut and tiramisu. So you can see that they do not disappoint at all.
They are so creamy and light that they can be served as a delicious dessert or accompanied with a good wine. But there is something that makes them different from any other you may have tried: they do not need to be chilled to achieve the creaminess that characterizes them and they can be consumed at 25-35ºC without affecting their liquidity.
Undoubtedly, this has become in a very short time a new temple of Cheesecake in Barcelona.
And you may be wondering about the recipe, obviously it is secret, but apparently the difference lies in the prominence of cheeses other than cream cheese. So, definitely, you can’t give it any more time and if you haven’t tried them you have to do it as soon as possible, they are amazing!
What Jon has assured is that in the preparation of these fantastic cakes he is using a variety of European cheeses, including Spanish, Italian and French cheeses.
More to come!
However, Jon has already confirmed that in the near future he hopes to add to his list of new and delicious cakes, a few gourmet cakes made with special cheeses such as Cabrales, Arzúa Ulloa, Tupí, San Simón, Gamoneu, among others.
