From December 15 until January 6, 2024, Barcelona’s Gran Via will be filled with the magic of Christmas with the Fira de Reis 2023-2024, an event that has become a long-standing tradition in Barcelona.
This market, which has been held since 1877, offers visitors and locals alike the opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit and find the perfect gifts for the holidays.
The Fira de Reis, also known as Fira de Sant Tomàs, has 249 stalls offering a variety of products, from toys to costume jewelry, clothing, decoration, ceramics and delicacies such as churros.
Organized by the Associació de Firaires de la Fira de Sant Tomàs and the Associació de Tallers Artesans de la Gran Via, in collaboration with several guilds, the market becomes a melting pot of traditions and creativity.
The Fira de Reis 2023-2024 and its festive novelties
This year, the fair has a novelty that will light up visitors’ nights. Between the streets of Comte d’Urgell and Comte Borrell, lighting pieces inspired by the gifts of the Three Wise Men have been installed.
These pieces, with a height of 2.90 meters, offer a unique visual experience of lights and colors, creating a festive atmosphere in the middle of the booths.
The Fira de Reis will be open until the early morning of January 6, 2024, coinciding with the celebration of Epiphany. During the week, the hours will be from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm, extending until 10:00 pm on Saturdays and holiday vigils.
On the eve of Epiphany, January 5, the fair will remain open until 3:00 a.m., allowing latecomers to find that special gift.
In addition to the lights between Comte d’Urgell and Comte Borrell, the fair presents a new decoration on the classic street lamps of Barcelona.
Designer Maurici Ginés has created curtains of gold and other colored chains, produced by Artec Studio, to add a festive touch to the atmosphere.
