It’s shopping time. Christmas is approaching and you have all the options to buy gifts. One of them is the Algodonera Market Lab, the Cotton House Christmas market.
In 2022, the market will be held at the Cotton House Barcelona Hotel, during the weekend of December 17 and 18. It will be the 30th edition and a total of seven years of history.
In fact, the event is held at different times of the year. And one that is never missing is that it is always scheduled for the Christmas season.
During the 2022 edition, the star of the market will be Eric Ortuño’s exquisite panettones, which in fact, have just been awarded the prize for the best chocolate panettone in Spain.
Flowers by Lebanese artist Soraya Hatem, of Wild Willow Florist Studio, will also be present.
Algodonera Market Lab: slow consumption philosophy
The flea market is based on the proposal that the customer gets to know the product and its history first, before buying it.
The advantage of this event is that it involves independent brands that are in permanent contact with the raw materials.
You can find a varied and wide range of products from fashion brands such as La Marin or Mar Lomon or even the cosmetic offer of Gotes essentials or Lux Organics.
Most of them are independent producers and entrepreneurs who are passionate creators of ceramics, jewelry and other items.
Maite Felices, organizer of La Algodonera Market Lab, is sure that after more than 30 editions, they have learned not to be so demanding in terms of brand design.
Solidarity actions and musical performances at the event
But in the market, in addition to shopping, there is also space to carry out solidarity actions.
In fact, each year the organization chooses a foundation to participate in the event. Mary’s Meals was selected for this year. This foundation aims to combat child hunger in the world through schools.
Therefore, those attending the Algodonera will be able to make a contribution of five euros to the foundation and receive a solidarity cup overflowing with Christmas broth to try on the spot.
Musical performances will also take place during the market days.
This year again the youth, art and culture of Barcelona will be present with the Raval Musicals’ Choir that will offer a concert on Sunday, December 18.
Also present will be the traditional Santa Claus who will collect the letters from children in the company of the pages of the Three Wise Men, along with the wishing tree so that attendees can leave their best thoughts on it.
