Naked visit to the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia to see the exhibition

Barcelona presents a unique and daring cultural proposal: the Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia and the Catalan Club of Naturism offer the opportunity to visit an exhibition completely naked. The immersive experience will take place within the framework of the exhibition “The Riace Bronzes: The Artistic Gaze of Luigi Spina” next October 28, 2023.

The exhibition revolves around the large-format photographs of the artist Luigi Spina, which explore in detail the anatomy of the two 5th century BC bronze statues known as “The Riace Bronzes”.

Immersive exhibitions in Barcelona: Beyond the traditional

These statues, considered one of the most important archaeological finds in history, were discovered in 1972 at the bottom of the sea. They are currently housed in the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Reggio Calabria.

Naked attends the “Riace Bronzes”.

The novelty of this proposal is that visitors can explore the exhibition without clothes, creating a unique link between the human anatomy and that of the sculptures. Historian and actress Irene Vicente Salas will guide the nudist tour, providing a unique and uninhibited experience for participants.

The nudist visit to ‘The Riace Bronzes’ is not a new idea, as the museum conducted a first test on September 30. On that occasion, 30 people explored the exhibition in its total nudity, with the guide Irene Vicente also stripped of her clothes. The experience was a great success.

One of the most frequently asked questions about this experience is whether nudity is mandatory. The answer is yes. Visitors must undress completely, although they are encouraged to wear shoes if they wish.

The visit will take place behind closed doors and an area will be provided for visitors to deposit their belongings before embarking on this unique experience.

An innovative model

The Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia, Passeig de santa Madrona, 39-41 08038, has adopted this initiative to offer a unique way to explore the exhibition ‘The Riace Bronzes’ and to promote an innovative approach to the appreciation of art and history.

By exploring the artworks in their most natural state, visitors can experience a unique connection to the sculptures and their own anatomy. The combination of artistic expression and nudity offers a fresh and provocative perspective that is sure to appeal to those seeking an unforgettable cultural experience in Barcelona.
