New Fujitsu Cybersecurity Center specializing in healthcare services

New Fujitsu Cybersecurity Center specializing in healthcare services

The Japanese multinational Fujitsu, as part of its growth plan to strengthen the cybersecurity area in Spain, decided to open a Cybersecurity Center specialized in healthcare services in Barcelona.

Initially, its focus will be on working with Spanish healthcare centers, both public and private.

The company will incorporate 15 workers in Fujitsu’s offices in Cornellà-Barcelona, to be part of the Center of Excellence for Healthcare Cybersecurity Services.

The Center has already begun its activities with the appointment of its coordinator, Enric Llaudet, who is responsible for setting up the work team and defining the profile of the clients.

Llaudet is a UB professor with a background in computer science. In his work, he will focus on defining the specific demands of the sector in order to establish specific safety mechanisms and new solutions for health risk management.

The new center has been installed in Fujitsu’s offices in Cornellà de Llobregat (City Park business park), but in the future it is not ruled out that they may have their own headquarters.

From Barcelona, the Cybersecurity Center that Fujitsu currently has in Seville will be complemented. From there, the first level of IT security of the company’s customers is monitored.

In this order of ideas, in the event that a first level incident is detected, healthcare centers will be offered personalized attention from the Cornellà offices in Barcelona (second level of security).

In addition to the centers in Barcelona and Seville, the multinational also has specialized cybersecurity teams in Valencia and Madrid, where it is headquartered.

A highly specialized center

This new Fujitsu Cybersecurity Center is the first one created by the technology company worldwide, specialized in the healthcare area.

Within the general operation, when incidents are detected in Fujitsu centers, the case is immediately escalated to a second level of security specialized in IT, but in the case of Spain, this center will have a level specialized in healthcare centers.

This sector is one of those that most requires cybersecurity for its optimal and secure operation, through personalized attention.

Likewise, the Center of Excellence for Healthcare Cybersecurity Services, in addition to reviewing the security of clinics and hospitals in Spain, will also seek to work with startups and universities in order to facilitate technology transfer.

In this regard, coordinator Llaudet indicates that they will seek to strengthen current relationships with the education and healthcare sectors in the country, in order to incorporate new products and services, as well as to review and improve the company’s current portfolio.
