It is estimated that the night train between Barcelona and Paris will start operating by December 15, 2024. The train will run between the two cities and will have a capacity to carry up to 400 passengers.
Thus, being able to sleep in Barcelona and wake up in Paris will be a dream that may soon become a reality.
The specific date for the start of operations of the night train was disclosed by the company Midnight Trains, although the French railway SNCF had already spoken about it in 2020.
It is an initiative very similar to the “Nightjet” project, a network of night trains that aims to connect Barcelona with other cities in Europe by 2030.
The route of the night train between Barcelona and Paris
Regarding departure times, both starting points will have the same departure time, i.e. at 20:30h.
However, while the train departing from Barcelona is estimated to finish its journey in the French capital at 7:51h, the Parisian train returning from Barcelona will arrive at Barcelona Sants station at 8:14h.
Thus, the journeys will take 11 hours and 21 minutes (Barcelona – Paris) and 11 hours and 44 minutes (Paris – Barcelona).
During the Barcelona Sants and Paris Gare de Lyon route, the train will stop in Girona, Figueres Vilafant, Perpinyà and Dijon.
In its first phase of operation, the line will share part of its route with the line running between Paris and Nice. However, the route will eventually be separated when the project is fully completed.
