Until January 21, 2022, the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia, TSJC, authorized the extension of the night curfew in the city.
Last Monday, the Generalitat requested that the measure be maintained in order to curb the increase in the number of infections of the Omicron variant of the coronavirus and to be able to guarantee health care.
The current pandemic situation presents unfavorable scenarios and urgent action is required.
Thus, the night curfew will be in force for now, until January 21 in 132 Catalan localities. Includes Barcelona, provincial capitals and metropolitan cities with more than 10,000 inhabitants.
The measure applies between one and six o’clock in the morning.
Other measures in addition to the night curfew
The magistrates of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia also approved the decree limiting social gatherings for a further 14 days.
These will be a maximum of 10 people and the permitted capacity for civil ceremonies and religious ceremonies will be 70% of the establishment’s capacity.
The use of the Covid certificate is also extended for sites where this measure is already in place.
Although our country is one of the leaders in vaccination percentage, it is facing a new wave of cases due to the presence of the omicron variant, which is more contagious than the previous ones.
By Tuesday, January 4, about 2,433 cases per 100,000 inhabitants were recorded in 14 days, one of the highest levels in Europe.
The use of masks, social distancing and frequent hand washing are still recommended.
