Representatives from more than 60 countries, including professionals and companies in the sector, will meet in Barcelona between May 16 and 18, 2022 to participate in the World Seed Congress.
The event is organized by:
- International Seed Federation, ISF.
- National Association of Plant Breeders, Anove.
- Association of Selected Seeds Producing Companies, Aprose.
It will be held at the facilities of the Fira de Barcelona.
The Congress will be attended by approximately 2,000 professionals from 200 companies in the sector.
World Seed Congress peace and food for all
Seeds are the starting point of the food chain, hence their importance in the preservation of life.
In this context, the 73rd edition of the Congress will have as its theme “Sowing a vibrant future”. The aim is to discuss “the continuity of seed supply in conflict zones in the context of the current war in Ukraine”.
In this regard, Michael Keller, secretary general of ISF, recalled that seeds are the starting point of the food chain. He stated that “only through peace and cooperation, quality seeds can reach all peoples and food security can be guaranteed”.
Specialized meetings and round tables will be held during the event. The topics to be discussed will be on scientific research and innovation in plant breeding.
Also on intellectual property, climate change and seed resilience, the fight against illegal practices and sustainable agriculture.
