The city of Barcelona has achieved a new milestone in international gastronomy. The Sartoria Panatieri pizzeria, located in the Catalan capital, has been named the third best pizzeria in the world in the prestigious guide “50 Top Pizza” in 2023. This recognition is a testament to the tireless commitment of its owners, Rafa Panatieri and Jorge Sastre, to excellence in pizza and a passion for fresh, local ingredients. The news that Sartoria Panatieri has made it onto the podium of the world’s best pizzerias has caused a stir in the gastronomic community. This meteoric rise in the rankings is even more impressive when you consider that in 2022 it was ranked 21st. Moreover, in the 2023 European ranking, published in May, this Catalan pizzeria was crowned the best in Europe, beating even Italian pizzerias.

 

A unique gastronomic experience at Sartoria Panatieri pizzeria

Sartoria Panatieri stands out for its commitment to quality and fresh ingredients. Its motto, “from farm to pizza,” is not just a slogan, but a philosophy that permeates every aspect of its gastronomic offerings. The “50 Top Pizza” guide has particularly praised Sartoria Panatieri’s attention to raw materials, which are mostly local and come from a farm that stands behind them. One of the highlights of the experience at Sartoria Panatieri is its focus on the quality of the homemade sausages. Attention to every phase of pizza making is evident and their dough, which is slowly fermented for 48 hours and then undergoes an additional 12-hour process.

Which pizzas have delighted the jury of “50 Top Pizza” at Sartoria Panatieri? Among the recommendations, the “sauce of grilled cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and basil hollandaise” stands out. Sartoria Panatieri is not the only Spanish pizzeria to be recognized in the “50 Top Pizza” list. Two other Spanish pizzerias are among the 50 best in the world: Fratelli Figurato in Madrid, ranked 42nd, and La Balmesina in Barcelona, ranked 50th.

The list of the world’s 100 best pizzerias reveals a diverse international pizza scene. Cities such as New York, Naples and Rome are strongly represented, each with five pizzerias in the ranking. Other cities such as Tokyo, London, Milan and Caserta (Italy) also have a strong presence, with four pizzerias each. The ranking was made public at a gala held at the Court Theater of the Royal Palace in Naples.
