The cabins or public toilets are back in the center of Barcelona for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve season.
They return to the city eight months after having been dismantled when they were used in the most complicated period of the pandemic.
The situation caused by the health emergency made citizens realize that public services are essential to preserve life.
For this reason, the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona took the decision to reinstall the fixed public toilets.
Olprim has already started the installation of the toilets in the same places where they were located in April.
Sources from the Consistory stated that it will still take time to put them into operation while the cabins are “hooked up” to the power supply by the electric companies.
The cabins have a self-cleaning and disinfection system that guarantees the preservation of health and compliance with biosafety measures.
Public toilets in the center of Barcelona
Ciutat Vella will have new public toilets in different parts of the city center.
They will be installed in Rambla del Raval, Plaça de la Catedral, Sant Pau del Camp gardens, Plaça Salvador Seguí, Plaça Duque de Medinaceli, Plaça Terenci Moix, Passeig Marítim, Passeig Picasso, Pla de Palau, Plaça Anna Murià and Plaça de Sant Agustí.
During the eight months after they were removed from the city, the district replaced the booths with portable toilets, which will now be removed and replaced with the new public toilets.
