In the heart of the Gòtic, on Carrer del Comtal, hides a treasure for lovers of art, writing and design: Raima, the largest stationery shop in Europe.
With a history dating back to 1986, this establishment has become a reference point, resisting the tourist waves and keeping alive the essence of the historic stores that give character to the most traditional Barcelona.
Raima is known for its commitment to quality and variety in its offerings. From handcrafted notebooks and fine paper to fountain pens and fine art supplies, the store houses a unique selection of products.
The key to its success lies in the careful selection of items, which goes beyond the conventional, including exclusive designer products, premium art materials and a wide range of fine writing instruments.
Raima: Europe’s largest stationery store
With 38 years of history, Raima was established with the vision of offering unique and exceptional stationery supplies. Since its modest beginnings in 1986, the store has evolved and expanded in a historic building built in the 16th century.
This emblematic building, which initially had only three floors, has become one of the most characteristic places in the Catalan capital.
The year 2019 marked the completion of the expansion works, adding two additional plants. The fourth floor, dedicated to crafts and hospitality, offers customers a creative and welcoming space.
The fifth floor, on the other hand, has become a stage for various exhibitions, highlighting Raima’s commitment to art and creativity.
A unique and emblematic space
Located in a building with more than five centuries of history, Raima stands as one of the most emblematic stores in Barcelona.
From its five floors, customers can explore recycled furniture and admire antique cars that belonged to the family that has run the store for generations.
A curiosity that highlights the uniqueness of Raima is the presence of a terrace on the fifth floor, offering an outdoor space to enjoy exhibitions and events.
In addition, the store features a bar, allowing customers to indulge in the best of local cuisine while exploring the extensive product offerings.
Raima’s history is intertwined with Barcelona’s roots. Beginning her career in 1979 with the opening of Carpeta, a conventional neighborhood stationery store, Núria Raja laid the foundations for what would later become Raima.
In 1986, Raima was born, located in the very heart of Barcelona, in an emblematic building dating back to 1513.
Since then, Raima has become home to a selection of products based on quality and functionality.
