Renfe has taken a bold step in tackling the challenge of the “Metaverse in Mobility” through a partnership with the company BIM 6D, which specializes in the creation and management of digital models of buildings and infrastructure linked to databases.
This partnership marks a milestone in the railroad’s commitment to remain at the forefront of technological innovation and explore new ways to improve the passenger experience and internal management.
As mobility and transportation evolve, it is critical to find creative solutions to address current and future challenges. The ‘Metaverse in Mobility’ initiative presents itself as an exciting opportunity to do just that.
What is the Metaverse in Mobility?
BIM 6D’s proposal is to offer an immersive experience aimed at improving passenger interaction with Renfe’s transport system and optimizing the company’s internal processes.
Most interestingly, this technology allows the creation of virtual trains and stations, as well as the creation of digital duplicates of the entire railway infrastructure.
It also offers the possibility of connecting users in the metaverse, where they can interact with their avatars, explore routes and railroads, and even travel in time, recreating the past and glimpsing the future.
This proposal is not only exciting in terms of technological innovation, but also presents a fundamental change in the way people relate to transportation.
Three-dimensional models and virtual experiences offer a revolutionary approach to addressing mobility and user interaction with rail transport.
Renfe’s commitment to innovation does not stop here. The search for solutions in the field of rail transport is an essential part of its strategy. To identify and support innovative projects, Renfe has established a partnership with TrenLab, its startup accelerator.
This collaboration is based on a project competition model, in which selected companies have the opportunity to receive a contract of up to one million euros if their project is successfully developed with Renfe.
BIM 6D, a Barcelona-based startup
The company has excelled in the AECO (architecture, engineering, construction and operations) sector and has demonstrated its expertise in the digitization of buildings and infrastructure. Using technologies such as CAD, 2D, 3D and BIM (Building Information Modeling), the company has been developing innovative projects to improve the efficiency and management of infrastructure.
Renfe’s commitment not only involves investing in cutting-edge technology, but also in promoting an innovation ecosystem in the rail transport sector.
