Sense” opens in Barcelona, the first non-alcoholic beverage store in Spain

Sense

Barcelona becomes the epicenter of the non-alcoholic beverage revolution with the opening of Sense, the first store of its kind in Spain.

Located at number 1 Plaça del Sol, in the lively neighborhood of Gràcia, Sense is a reference point for those looking to explore the growing world of 0.0% beverages.

This innovative trade, driven by beverage experts Deborah Nuñez and Kimber Lockhart, aims to capitalize on the burgeoning non-alcoholic beverage market, which is experiencing a significant boom both domestically and globally.

Sense is not just a store, but a marketplace that houses more than 150 international brands, allowing customers to enjoy a wide variety of options ranging from wines and beers to gins and aperitifs, all alcohol-free.

Among the brands that are part of this experience are renowned products such as Atopia Spiced Citrus, a non-alcoholic gin that had the honor of being served exclusively at the Oscars 2023.

Athletic Brewing Club, the best-selling independent non-alcoholic beer in the United States, and a line of adaptogenic beverages designed to positively alter the consumer’s mood through natural ingredients.

The Sense initiative was born out of the personal experience of Kimber Lockhart, who, during one of her pregnancies, noticed the scarce supply of non-alcoholic beverages in Spain.

This gap in the market motivated Lockhart and his partner Deborah Nuñez to introduce a proposal that not only caters to the needs of those who choose not to consume alcohol, but also satisfies those seeking alternatives to more conventional alcoholic beverages.

The market for this type of beverages

The non-alcoholic beverage market is booming, with non-alcoholic beer leading this shift in Spain, already representing 13% of total beer sales, according to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Globally, the non-alcoholic beverage industry generated more than $11 billion in 2022, up 7% from the previous year, according to the IWSR Drinks Market Analysis report.

Sense not only presents itself as a non-alcoholic beverage store, but as a space that reflects the diversity of Gràcia, a unique combination of local and international neighbors. The objective is to offer Catalonia a complete universe of cocktails, wines and spirits selected from all over the world.

The store seeks to appeal to both teetotal consumers and those who want to explore alternative drinks and experiment with innovative combinations, such as the popular non-alcoholic cocktails.

Sense not only inaugurates a store, but introduces Barcelona to a new era of beverage options.
