After two years of restrictions, the Diada 2022 concerts and the traditional September 11 program in Barcelona are back. Everything is ready for that day: the route of the September 11 demonstration and the Diada 2022 T-shirt.
The Festa per la Llibertat, organized by Òmnium Cultural, has a program for the whole day from morning to night. The organizers have planned different presentations before and after the September 11 demonstration, where culture will be at the center of the festivities.
It is worth mentioning that the motto of this year’s version will be: “Let’s get active to win”. And that lhe program will begin at 10:30 am with the opening of the Espai Òmnium and the Fira d’Entitats in the promenade that starts at Arc de Triomf and will last all morning.
Diada 2022 Concert Program
Around noon, a political act of Òmnium will take place, which will be the opening event of the afternoon, including the demonstration on September 11.
The demonstration will have a route from Plaça Espanya at 5:14 p.m. heading towards Avinguda del Paral-lel to Plaça de Colom (next to Drassanes).
Then they will continue to the Estació de França along the avenue Marquès de l’Argentera, where the celebration will end with a political act by the Assemblea.
At the same time, the concerts of the Diada will start at 1 pm at Passeig Lluís Companys. Several contestants of Eufòria, the TV3 program, will perform, in particular Edu Esteve, Llum, Joan Liaño and Estela, who will be in charge of the opening concert.
Around 6.30 p.m. Els Pets will perform, followed at 8 p.m. by members of the group Roba Estesa. The concerts will conclude at 9.30 pm with a performance by Lil Dami.
And as is traditional each year, no tickets are required for the September 11 concerts. However, if you are going to participate, it is best to attend in advance due to the expected massive attendance at the event.
Why is the National Day of Catalonia commemorated?
Every year, September 11 in Catalonia is commemorated as a day of vindication and defense of freedoms and rights.
and defense of national freedoms and rights.
rights.
It is a date that recalls a historical fact: the defeat of the Catalans by the Bourbon army during the War of Succession on September 11, 1714.
But it was not until a century later that this day began to be commemorated. The first act for the Diada took place in 1886. Since that time, several Catalan entities remembered the victims of this siege with a commemorative act.
Over the years, the Franco regime banned the celebration, but from September 11, 1976 to the present, it has been commemorated year after year with great respect.
