From September 1st, the expected reduction in public transport fares in Barcelona begins.
With this, Rodalies tickets operated by Renfe will be and free Barcelona Metropolitan Transport will have discounts of up to 50% ( bus, subway, streetcar ).
The national government granted a 100% bonus on Renfe’s Cercanías season tickets operated by Renfe between September 1 and December 31, 2022.
Reduction in public transportation fares
If you want to get a free Rodalies pass, you must register in advance on the renfe.com website or in the Renfe and Renfe Cercanías apps.
- After registration, from August 24 you will have to do the following:
- You can download the Renfe Cercanías app on either Android or Apple. Register as a user if you have not already done so and then log in with your account.
- Select the desired commuter hub.
- Proceed to drop down the menu and select the “Buy Tickets” option.
- Then choose the “Buy” option and select the station of origin and usual destination.
- Then you look at a drop-down menu and choose “Select a fare”, then “Free frequent flyer pass”.
- A QR will immediately be generated and saved in the “Buy tickets” – “My tickets” menu.
To validate the QR in Barcelona, users must have a physical pass at the vending machines. To do so, simply enter the QR code or the seven-digit code generated in the App into the vending machines.
The relief will be in effect until the end of the year.
