Meteorologist Mario Picazo, former head of meteorology at Telecinco, makes alarming predictions for Spain as a result of the advance of climate change in the world.
He states that the effects will be particularly devastating in the country.
And the predictions are based on the already known possible scenarios, as well as on the different episodes of intense heat recorded in May, June and July of this year.
The temperature of the Mediterranean Sea rose to 30ºC. This is an “anomalous” record for meteorologists who are concerned about the situation. They even foresee that it may increase even more.
The expert indicates that with the Mediterranean at 30ºC, it becomes a “water vapor factory”.
This is manifested in the presence of a lot of “heat and heatwave” during the summer, as has indeed been experienced during the last few months in Barcelona in particular.
The sticky pseudo-tropical climate coupled with high temperatures has had negative effects on the health of the inhabitants because the body cannot regulate itself normally.
Predictions for Spain after the summer
However, the most complex will come at the end of summer and beginning of autumn. Floods and a great impact on marine species are expected for this transition period.
The meteorologist indicated that when low temperatures begin due to the end of summer, cold drop situations will start to appear.
With this, it is estimated that there will be episodes of very intense rainfall, due to the fact that the high temperatures recorded in the sea may cause the formation of “very energetic” clouds.
